What Is the Difference Between Male and Female PPR Fittings?

A male fitting has the thread on the outside; a female fitting has the thread on the inside. A male thread screws into a female thread. For example, a wall tap screws into a female elbow; a male socket screws into a female-threaded valve. Fittings named "25 x ½" join 25 mm PPR pipe to a ½-inch thread.

Tip: Wrap thread tape (PTFE) on male threads before screwing into a female thread, and never use too much force on plastic threads.
